How Class Marking works

Set a task, collect responses and return useful feedback through one connected class workflow.

1) Set a task and connect your class

Choose the exam board and question type, then assign your question. Students can join with a class code, using a TeachEdge account or Google/Microsoft sign-in where enabled by their school.

2) Students submit typed or handwritten answers

Students answer through their portal, with support for handwritten uploads, diagrams and visual working.

3) Review and release feedback

TeachEdge generates draft marks, strengths, improvement priorities and practical next steps. Review and edit before release, or enable automatic release.

You mentioned inflation targeting. Can you explain how this connects to consumer confidence?

If inflation is predictable, consumers are more likely to spend because they trust prices won't spike?

Good. Now, what might a critic say about whether inflation targeting alone is enough?

Built by Teachers, for Teachers

TeachEdge was founded by Gary Roebuck, a former Head of Economics and former senior economic adviser to the UK government. Developed through classroom use and teacher feedback, it supports assessment across a growing range of secondary subjects.

Teachers choose how to use it: mark an individual response, process scanned scripts or manage the full class assessment workflow. Manual feedback release is the default in Class Marking, with automatic release available when teachers choose.

TeachEdge also helps teachers model responsible AI use, with opportunities for students to act on feedback and take part in guided tutoring.

The impact of Teach Edge on our GCSE Business results has been remarkable. This year's outcomes were through the roof compared to 2024, when we started using the platform. It's been so successful that we're now rolling it out within and across other departments this year. The progress we saw with our students was fantastic, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Stephen Walton, Head Economics & Business, The King's School, Chester

The pupil feedback from Teach Edge is extremely helpful. It is really detailed and offers clear advice to pupils on what they need to do to improve at both GCSE and A Level. The team are also fantastic – they've helped us refine the AI and are incredibly quick to add new subjects when we ask. It's now an extremely useful tool for us across a range of subjects.

Noeleen Murphy, Director of Studies, City of London School

We trialled Teach Edge at the end of last year and saw the potential straight away. This year it's enabled us to give around ten times more detailed feedback within our normal workload, which has been transformative. It's proving especially valuable for SEN provision, and our students tell us they now feel more confident about how to use AI responsibly after seeing it modelled in class. We were so impressed that Teach Edge is now part of our core approach to teaching and feedback across the department.

Michael Healer, Head of Economics, London Academy of Excellence

Teach Edge has been a game-changer in my teaching workflow. It's incredibly intuitive to use, has significantly improved the efficiency of my marking, and has saved me countless hours. The support from the Teach Edge team has been outstanding—responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to helping educators succeed. I highly recommend it to any teacher looking to streamline their workload and enhance their impact.

As a teacher working with large GCSE and sixth form classes, Teach Edge has been a genuine game changer. It has allowed me to set essays more frequently, with students receiving instant, detailed feedback that helps them refine their exam technique. The class feedback summaries make it easy to identify common areas for improvement, enabling me to target my teaching more effectively. The student tracking data is also invaluable for monitoring individual progress over time.

Helen Hill: Business and Economics Teacher, The Misbourne

Teach Edge has been revolutionary in our school. Having started in one department, it has grown to support hundreds of students across the school in prep for GCSE and A Levels. Gary, the owner, has always taken feedback on board and continued to tweak the product to support our students. There is no need to look elsewhere. This will help save teachers time and maximise informative feedback for students.

Jamie Howard, Assistant Principal, The Chalfonts, Community College

Featured Case Study

Stephen Walton, a teacher at The King's School in Chester, used AI-assisted marking with his GCSE Business students. 14 out of 15 intervention students improved their grades, with some jumping up to 5 grade boundaries.

TeachEdge is a web-based education application used by teachers in UK secondary schools. Disclaimer: TeachEdge.ai is independent of, and not endorsed by, any examination board.

TeachEdge.ai is a UK-built platform that helps secondary teachers give better marking and feedback on essays and longer exam-style questions, without the copy-and-paste admin. It supports Class Marking for full class assignment workflows, Quick Mark for individual responses, and Exam Script Marking for scanned student responses.

As an AI teaching tool, TeachEdge supports AI assessment and AI feedback with teacher control. Teachers can set tasks for a class, students can submit through their own portal, or teachers can upload scanned responses through Exam Script Marking. TeachEdge produces draft marks and feedback calibrated to the relevant exam board. Manual release is the default in Class Marking; teachers can enable automatic release.

TeachEdge supports assessment across Economics, Business, Accounting, History, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Politics, Geography, Classics, Criminology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature, English Language & Literature, Media Studies, Film Studies, Music, French, Spanish, Health & Social Care, and Food & Nutrition. Available qualifications, exam boards and question types vary by subject. The aim is simple: reduce marking load while making feedback clearer, more consistent, and more useful for students to act on — practical AI for teachers that fits normal classroom routines.

Teach Edge also includes personalised tutoring. Teachers set the topic and students work through a one-to-one conversation that starts with a short baseline check and then proceeds in a Socratic, scaffolded way. Crucially, teachers can review full conversations and see summaries of student understanding or misconceptions, including class-level patterns, so tutoring feeds directly back into teaching — another way Teach Edge supports AI feedback that teachers can trust and act on.
